UFC 219 video: Watch Edson Barboza crush Beneil Dariush in ‘Knockout of the Week’

With the weekend off from Octagon action, fight fans are left to look forward to UFC 219 on Dec. 30 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

It will be the promotion’s infamous end-of-the-year event and feature a women’s featherweight title fight between current champion Cris Cyborg and former bantamweight queen Holly Holm, as well as a lightweight co-main event between top contenders Khabib Nurmagomedov and Edson Barboza.

In preparation for UFC 219, the promotion has opened up its vault and recently featured Barboza in the newest edition of “Knockout of the Week.” This time around, the action focuses on the Brazilian’s matchup with Beneil Dariush earlier this year at UFC Fight Night 106 in Brazil. After some back-and-forth exchanges, Barboza launched a devilish flying knee in the second round that connected flush and instantly crumbled Dariush to the canvas.

It may not have been as technical as Barboza’s wheel kick knockout of Terry Etim back in 2012, but it was arguably just as violent.

While Nurmagomedov is going to be a horrible matchup for Barboza at UFC 219, the Brazilian is more than capable of landing a knockout blow at any time. If he’s able to get past the undefeated Russian on Dec. 30, a title shot could be in the works for early 2018.
