Will the real pussy please stand up?
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion, Conor McGregor, called former boxing foe Floyd Mayweather Jr. a “pussy” for passing on promotion president Dana White’s offer to bring “Money” into the Octagon.
See those comments here.
That’s a critique that didn’t sit well with manager Ali Abdelaziz, who reps top contenders like Frankie Edgar (featherweight) and Khabib Nurmagomedov (lightweight), because McGregor has yet to make a single title defense in either weight class.
“It's crazy, Conor McGregor [calls] everyone pussys when the guy’s ducked everyone that can beat him,” Abdelaziz wrote on Twitter. “Frankie Edgar, Khabib, and never defended his titles. He only fights guys stylelisticaly good for him. And his coaches only talk about guys he can't beat. Not sure who's the pussy here.”
McGregor has done quite a bit of fighting these days, just not against fighters.
While “Notorious” is expected to return at some point in 2018, there is no definitive timeline for his first title defense. In his absence, interim kingpin Tony Ferguson will handle championship duties, while top contenders (like these guys) will attempt to hunt him down.
Which adds and subtracts from this list.
