"Super" Sage is back in action.
Dana White's favorite frosty tipped fighter will fight again at the UFC Fight Night in Austin, Texas on February 18th. He'll be taking on France's Thibault Gout, who improved his record to 3-1 in September when he knocked out Andrew Holbrook at UFC Rotterdam. The booking was revealed earlier in the day by ESPN's Brett Okamoto.
Northcutt is getting back to work following a long layoff that lasted from December of 2106 to November of this year. That started with a loss to smart-ass hype killer Mickey Gall, who beat Northcutt via submission in the second round of their fight, prompting Sage to move from welterweight down to lightweight. His return to 155 worked out well, though, and Northcutt notched his fourth UFC win against Michael Quinones via a unanimous decision, moving him to 9-2 (4-2 UFC).
Northcutt is still struggling to live up to the expectations set on him since he arrived on the scene via a slick performance on Dana White's Looking For A Fight series. The promotion gave him a big push, but his performances haven't quite managed to meet what the UFC has pushed him as. That doesn't mean he hasn't resonated with the fanbase. For a guy sitting in the lower regions of the rankings, Sage is extremely popular due to his boy next door qualities and aw shucks nature.
UFC Fight Night 126 goes down at the Frank Erwin Center from Austin, Texas and currently features a fight between heavyweights Derrick Lewis and Marcin Tybura, and flyweights Ray Borg and Brandon Moreno.
