Bellator 191: “McDonald vs. Ligier” emanated from Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle, England, on Dec. 15, 2017, featuring a Bantamweight main event between former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) star “Mayday” Michael McDonald scoring a a unanimous decision win over Peter Ligier in his promotional debut.

There’s good news and bad news about McDonald’s victory over the self-styled “BadAzz.” The bad news: McDonald broke his right hand in the second round, so the victory celebration was short-lived ... and another injury layoff is in McDonald’s immediate future. The good news: Bellator MMA drew an average of 571,000 viewers (DVR +3) for the tape-delayed broadcast on Spike TV, peaking out at 737,000 for the McDonald vs. Ligier main event.

Data was not sent out by Spike TV for Bellator 190, but compared to Bellator 189 that’s an increase of 47,000 and 42,000 viewers, respectively. In other words, it’s a positive trend heading into Bellator 192: “Lima vs. McDonald” at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif., on Jan. 20, 2018.
