Knockout! Watch Yancy Medeiros topple Alex Oliveira in Fight of the Year candidate - UFC 218 highlights

One of the best fights you’ll ever see unraveled earlier tonight (Sat., Dec. 2, 2017) at UFC 218 from inside Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Mich., as tested Hawaiian veteran Yancy Medeiros outlasted Brazilian welterweight Alex Oliveira to the tune of a third-round TKO.

This fight was truly epic. It had everything. Whether it were the multiple knockdowns, countless elbows from top position, head kicks, straight rights, slamming body kicks, or the spewing fountain of blood coming out of Oliveira’s face, this welterweight clash was one for the ages.

In the end, following a plethora of punishment and pain, Medeiros was able to put an end to Oliveira in the third frame after connecting with a barrage of strikes along the cage. Oliveira hung in tough, but was simply exhausted, eventually forcing the referee to step in for the TKO stoppage.

With this performance, Medeiros extends his welterweight win streak to three (all finishes). He looks like a completely different fighter than what he was at lightweight, but still possesses the ability to put forth a Fight of the Year performance. As long as the Hawaiian keeps coming out on top in these brawls he’ll continue to climb the 170-pound ladder.
