Bad news just got worse.

The mixed martial arts (MMA) community lost one of its beloved coaches last Friday (Dec. 15, 2017) after Robert Follis, 48, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head on Nevada State Route 160, according to MMA Fighting.

“As one of the founding members of Team Quest and Xtreme Couture MMA it is with great sorrow that we say good bye to Robert Follis,” retired combat sports legend Randy Couture wrote on social media.

“Robert was a friend, coach, mentor, and philosopher of martial arts to many of us. It is with a very heavy heart that I write this tribute to a man that touched so many.”

No word yet on when or where funeral services will be held for Follis, but his girlfriend, Myra Fukuno, provided an email address for people to send memories, stories and photos by way of robertfollismemorial@gmail.com.
