Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) president Dana White is tying a ribbon on another successful event, as UFC Fight Night 123 took place last night (Sat., Dec. 9, 2017) inside Save Mart Arena in Fresno, California.
In the main event of the evening, Brian Ortega continued his winning ways by picking up his biggest victory to date after he submitted Cub Swanson in round number two (see it again here).
Also, Marlon Moraes picked up his second win in a month by knocking out Aljamain Sterling in the very first round with a knee to the face.
So what did White think of the event, in particular Ortega’s dazzling performance? See for yourself:
“Ortega is the real deal. This guy has an incredible chin, he is willing to mix it up, stand up and bang with anybody. And his jiu-jitsu is ridiculous, I have never seen, and let’s remember Cub is a black belt in jiu-jitsu,” White told UFC on Fox Sport’s Laura Sanko.
“He has the choke in, takes the hand out to readjust while he is up in the air, gets it and, wow, the kid is incredible and he is absolutely, positively the future. This kid is a grounded, humble, down-to-earth kid and he came up and said, ‘I want to do big things inside and outside the Octagon, I want to do a lot of charity work. A lot of great things like that. For all the people that admire him, he is worth the admiration I will tell you that,” he concluded.
Indeed, Ortega put the division and the sport on notice after taking out one of the most-experienced and seasoned veterans in all of MMA with a spectacular finish in his first-ever headlining bout for the promotion.
