A new top contender arrived last night (Sat., Dec. 9, 2017) at UFC Fight Night 123 live on FOX Sports 1 from inside Save Mart Center in Fresno, Calif., as submission expert Brian Ortega cashed in on his first main event billing by choking out featherweight veteran Cub Swanson via second-round guillotine.
Ortega wasn’t perfect in this fight as he got tagged on numerous occasions, but his expertise proved superior when it mattered most. After failing to lock in an anaconda choke in the final seconds of the first round, “T-City” found a home for a guillotine choke in the second. He jumped on Swanson’s neck, adjusted his grip mid-choke, and squeezed until “Killer” was forced to tap.

With this performance, Ortega maintains his undefeated professional record and locks down his fifth-straight UFC finish. The entertaining 26-year-old is sitting very pretty heading into 2018 as he inches closer towards a featherweight title shot.
