Former UFC women’s strawweight title challengers Jessica Andrade and Karolina Kowalkiewicz will lock horns at UFC on FOX 28 on Feb. 24 from inside Amway Center in Orlando, Fla., per a recent report by Combate.
UFC has yet to officially announce the 115-pound matchup.
Andrade, 26, is coming off a monstrous decision victory over former title challenger Claudia Gadelha this past September. It was the Brazilian’s first Octagon appearance since losing her lone title shot at UFC 211 to then champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Considering Andrade has lost just one fight since dropping down to strawweight back in 2016, she’ll find herself back on the doorstep of title contention with a win over Kowalkiewicz, especially since Jedrzejczyk just lost her title to Rose Namajunas at UFC 217.
Kowalkiewicz, 32, is coming off a unanimous decision win over Jodie Esquibel this past October. Before that, the Polish striker was choked out by Gadelha at UFC 212 following a hard-fought title loss to Jedrzejczyk back at UFC 205. With a previous Octagon victory over Namajunas, Kowalkiewicz could sneak into immediate title contention if she’s able to play matador opposite Andrade this February.
UFC on FOX 28 currently has no main event in place.
