Welcome to Midnight Mania!

Max Holloway is nothing if not a fighter to his core. After Frankie Edgar’s injury knocked him out of the much-anticipated title bout with Holloway in Detroit, Holloway took to Twitter to assure Detroit that they deserve a show, because they “a bunch of tough mfers.” He doesn’t care who he faces; he promised Detroit that he will be fighting no matter what. That’s an attitude we can get behind.

He also holds no grudge or casts any aspersions on Frankie Edgar, who has proven his toughness over a long career.

There were no shortages of offers to step in against Holloway in December.

We can all dream, right?

Insomnia

Speaking of injured former champions, Dominick Cruz is out of UFC 219 and Aljamain Sterling wants to be the guy to step up and fight Jimmie Rivera.

Andrei the Giant and John the Magician are a duo for the ages

Vasyl Lomachenko working my favorite bag like a pro.

Angela Hill with the sass

Anthony Paul Pettis explains how Dana White’s harsh words made him feel.

This level of skill and balance is not learned in a day.

Wrestling, a worldwide phenomenon.

BJ Penn annihilator Dennis Siver is apparently gone from the UFC and signed with ACB. Now he gets to fight in his homeland!

In other non-UFC news, Lorenz Larkin will have the opportunity to bounce back on January 26 against Fernando Gonzalez

Nothing like a good mistaken identity typo. From a guy who makes typos on a daily basis, this is still funny.

Tyron Woodley got to meet Dan Hardy in New York.

Mark Ratner’s statement to Congress hits all the “American Dream” tropes and conveniently brushes over or minimizes the real problems of fighter poverty, monopoly power, and wage exploitation by the UFC. In this way, the UFC is an exact picture of American capitalism.

That seems like a pretty good re-introduction to the MMA Outsiders interview with Jon Fitch, in which he addresses (starting at the 36 minute mark when he talks about his fight with Demian Maia) all the issues I mentioned above, the function of the Ali Act, and much more:

Wonderboy doesn’t want to fight Darren Till- but neither does Colby Covington, apparently. I don’t blame either one of them. Till is a high risk, low reward fight at this point in his career.

What an incredible visual burn by Derek Brunson on Paulo Costa

Someone had to do it.

St. Pierre getting that New York Stock Exchange appearance money:

I love the internet.

True story y'all ladies be trippin. Lucky for me I'm 6'0

Speaking of Mighty Mouse, he started his week out nicely.

Any fighter can tweet a picture of their puppy and get instant inclusion in Midnight Mania, just FYI. That’s the secret strategy Amanda Nunes employed here.

This woman wanted to use Terry Crews’ picture on her credit card so she would be reminded not to spend money. Her bank told her she needed his permission to put his likeness on a card- so he gave it.

This is just good advertising.
