Welcome to Midnight Mania!
Max Holloway is nothing if not a fighter to his core. After Frankie Edgar’s injury knocked him out of the much-anticipated title bout with Holloway in Detroit, Holloway took to Twitter to assure Detroit that they deserve a show, because they “a bunch of tough mfers.” He doesn’t care who he faces; he promised Detroit that he will be fighting no matter what. That’s an attitude we can get behind.
Detroit, you guys are a bunch of tough mfers. I met many of you last month when we visited. You guys deserve the best fight card of the year and youre still gonna get it. I'm fighting no matter what— Max Holloway (@BlessedMMA) November 9, 2017
Santa is still coming early to Detroit, so get ready. Malice in the palace part 2 if we have to. I'll see you soon— Max Holloway (@BlessedMMA) November 9, 2017
He also holds no grudge or casts any aspersions on Frankie Edgar, who has proven his toughness over a long career.
Injuries are part of this fight game. Frankies the man. Wish him a speedy recovery— Max Holloway (@BlessedMMA) November 9, 2017
There were no shortages of offers to step in against Holloway in December.

In other non-UFC news, Lorenz Larkin will have the opportunity to bounce back on January 26 against Fernando Gonzalez
Here's one - Lorenz Larkin will face Fernando Gonzalez at welterweight in Bellator on Jan. 26 in Temecula, CA. Good scrap right there.— Damon Martin (@DamonMartin) November 9, 2017
Nothing like a good mistaken identity typo. From a guy who makes typos on a daily basis, this is still funny.

Tyron Woodley got to meet Dan Hardy in New York.
Mark Ratner’s statement to Congress hits all the “American Dream” tropes and conveniently brushes over or minimizes the real problems of fighter poverty, monopoly power, and wage exploitation by the UFC. In this way, the UFC is an exact picture of American capitalism.
Here is Marc Ratner's proposed evidence to Congress in opposing the Ali Act expanding to MMA https://t.co/83EKcGEPfp— Erik Magraken (@erikmagraken) November 8, 2017
That seems like a pretty good re-introduction to the MMA Outsiders interview with Jon Fitch, in which he addresses (starting at the 36 minute mark when he talks about his fight with Demian Maia) all the issues I mentioned above, the function of the Ali Act, and much more:
Wonderboy doesn’t want to fight Darren Till- but neither does Colby Covington, apparently. I don’t blame either one of them. Till is a high risk, low reward fight at this point in his career.
Covington tells me he has no interest in Till fight, wants Woodley or interim shot. Full interview shortly on this week's @talkingbrawls #UFC https://t.co/M8yzMubV1M— Niall McGrath (@niallmcgrath4) November 8, 2017

- Ronda Rousey’s mom, Judo champion Dr. Anne Maria, wrote about how to tell if you are that creep in the gym. As someone who has left martial arts gyms because of creeps, this struck me as a good read.
- Randy Couture and Marc Ratner are going to appear before Congress to testify on the Ali Act. An important legal moment for MMA.
- Is Amazon a perfect fit as the UFC’s distribution partner? Quite possibly- aside from both being aggressive, ruthless monopolies, they have several goals that fit hand in glove.
- ONE atomweight champion Angela Lee fell asleep at the wheel and her car flipped over several times. She survived, thankfully.
This woman wanted to use Terry Crews’ picture on her credit card so she would be reminded not to spend money. Her bank told her she needed his permission to put his likeness on a card- so he gave it.
This is just good advertising.
