The MMA gods giveth, and the MMA gods taketh away.
Sometimes it seems like they taketh away more than giveth. In this case, they’ve taken the main event of UFC 218 on December 2nd. UFC featherweight champ Max Holloway was set to face perennial contender Frankie Edgar, but now news has come out that Edgar has suffered an undisclosed injury and is unable to compete.
“Hit with a minor setback but should be back to full contact in six weeks or so,” Edgar wrote on Instagram. “Thanks to the UFC for always having my back. Max I'll see you down the road.”
While Edgar is chowing down on all the foods, the UFC will undoubtedly be scrambling to fill the hole at the top of their December card. The contenders:
