UFC Fight Night 122 results: Biggest winners, loser from ‘Gastelum vs Bisping’ last night

MMA: UFC Fight Night-Nash vs Jingliang Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returned to the hurt business last night (Sat., Nov. 25, 2017) for UFC Fight Night 122, which took place inside Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai, China. The UFC Fight Pass event featured a Middleweight showdown which saw Kelvin Gastelum end Michael Bisping’s night early with a vicious first round knockout.

Biggest Winner: Kelvin Gastelum

After suffering a loss in his previous bout for former Middleweight champion Chris Weidman, Kelvin Gastelum got back on the winning track in a rather impressive performance, knocking out Michael Bisping in the very first round (highlights). Sure, “The Count” was taking the fight on a few weeks notice after suffering a loss to Georges St-Pierre at UFC 217, but people tend to forget Gastelum had to switch his gameplan on short notice from Anderson Silva to “The Count.” Kelvin truly looks good at 185-pounds, but the challenges will only get bigger and stronger moving forward. Literally. Nevertheless, the former Ultimate Fighter (TUF) winner has firmly cemented himself in the mix of top 185 pound fighters in the world.

Runner Up: Li Jingliang

Li looked rather impressive in his latest win, knocking out Zak Ottow halfway through the opening round to collect his fourth straight win. And it was an important win, too, as it will help Li crack the top 15 down the road and hopefully get his name out there. That’s because Li has been fighting for UFC since 2014, and aside from most of his hometown fans, he isn't really on anyone’s radar. But after his big win, people will start taking notice. Fans and future opponents alike.

Biggest Loser: Michael Bisping

It’s hard to call “The Count” a loser, as he did UFC a solid after Anderson Silva was popped by USADA, stepping up on just two weeks notice to face Gastelum after coughing up his title to “Rush.” Nevertheless, getting slept twice in two weeks isn’t good for Bisping’s health or fighting future. But, Bisping is at the tail-end of his career as he plans on retiring from the sport after his next bout, which could very well go down in London this coming March. Still, from sitting on the top of the world to suffering a submission and then a knockout loss in only a matter of weeks can’t be good for anyone.
