Li Jingliang fought Zak Ottow in UFC Fight Night 122’s co-main event this morning (Sat., Nov. 25, 2017) inside Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai, China, airing live on UFC Fight Pass.
Jingliang opened with a low kick. Ottow ate a counter right, then got aggressive for a moment, but Li avoided him. Ottow landed a nice right hook in the pocket. Ottow landed another two-punch combination as Jingliang stepped in. Jingliang landed a nice hook that wobbled Ottow. Moments later, he knocked Ottow down with a right hand counter to a low kick! Zak Ottow scrambled to recover, but Li Jingliang didn’t let up, throwing accurate bombs on a shelled Ottow. The referee called it off, and Jingliang leaped the cage to run into the crowd to hug his family! What a win for the hometown hero!
He was ecstatic with the win, and in the post-fight interview he thanked every supporter, to a roar of support from the crowd. “To everyone who watched it, this knockout belongs to you!” He got the crowd to chant with him, and said they next step for him is the championship- dominate the division, then get the championship. The crowd cheers when the camera shows his wife holding his daughter in the crowd. That’s a feel-good win for him and the hometown crowd.
