You probably never heard of Zabit Magomedsharipov.
The 26-year-old Dagestani will fight World Series of Fighting (WSOF) import Sheymon Moraes at the UFC Fight Night 122 mixed martial arts (MMA) event on UFC Fight Pass, taking place tomorrow morning (Sat., Nov. 25, 2017) inside Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai, China.
You should probably tune into the “Prelims” portion of the broadcast, so you can catch a glimpse of the fighter who will not only destroy Conor McGregor, but who can also defeat Max Holloway and Jose Aldo.
That’s according to coach Mark Henry (via MMA Fighting):
“I see a lot of things in Zabit that I see in Frankie (Edgar). Of course, the skillset is there, but it’s other things like toughness and heart that you can’t train that he just has naturally. Frankie was a champion and I see the exact same championship qualities in Zabit. I think he destroys (Conor) McGregor. I think he could beat Max (Holloway) too, but he would look phenomenal against McGregor. He has that range too, so I think he could look good against (Jose) Aldo as well.”
Those are three of the best featherweights to ever compete in UFC.
Magomedsharipov (13-1) made his Octagon debut at UFC Fight Night 121 back in September, securing a second-round submission win over Mike Santiago to improve his win streak to nine straight.
Eight of which were finishes.
McGregor has abandoned the featherweight division to capture gold at 155 pounds, so it’s unlikely Magomedsharipov will get the chance to back up those words anytime soon. Perhaps he can start earning some of that praise by fighting the loser of this rematch.
