Forget the Alamo. Remember Combate Americas!
Less than a month after its historic “Copa Combate” tournament in Cancun, the world’s premiere Hispanic-based combat sports promotion returns to Telemundo with a stacked mixed martial arts (MMA) fight card on Dec. 1, 2017, inside Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio, Texas.
Leading the charge will be the atomweight main event pitting streaking grappling sensation Kyra Batara opposite local hero Paulina Granados, with the winner moving on to fight Mexican smashing machine Lisbeth Lopez Silva in the promotion’s Pan-Regional championship bout next February.
“We are thrilled to continue this tremendous partnership with Telemundo Deportes as Combate Americas closes out a banner year filled with incredible milestones, and presents a fight card on December 1 that is highlighted by one of the most competitive rivalries in our sport today, the culmination of which will see its winner represent the U.S. in a high-stakes championship fight,” said Combate Americas CEO Campbell McLaren.
Former WWE champ and retired MMA fighter Alberto Del Rio will call the action alongside newly-signed bantamweight headliner Erik Perez. They’ll be joined by Telemundo Deportes’ Edgar Lopez, play-by-play man Andres Bermudez, and Andrea Calle.
Elsewhere on the card, Andres Quintana returns to “La Jaula” to face off against Rey Trujillo, while the undefeated Daniel Rodriguez collides with Victor Reyna. Tickets for TS-1 Promotions Presents: “Combate 19: Batara vs. Granados,” are on sale at Ticketmaster.com.
