Former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum continued his comeback campaign last night (Sat., Nov. 18, 2017) at UFC Fight Night 121 live on FOX Sports 1 from inside Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia, when he defeated rising Polish contender Marcin Tybura via unanimous decision.
To the surprise of many, Tybura was able to hang in there with the Brazilian legend and land some good offense. Werdum was in control for nearly the entire fight, especially when the action hit the cage, but Tybura gave Werdum a few scares on the heels of pestering head kicks. Werdum weathered the storm, landed combinations inside and out, unloaded monstrous knees, and essentially out-classed Tybura for the duration of all five rounds.

With this performance, Werdum locks down his second-straight win after losing a close decision to Alistair Overeem back at UFC 213. While Werdum isn’t beating some of the guys were used to seeing atop the heavyweight division, the 40-year-old is remaining active and doing everything in his power to lock down a rematch with current champion Stipe Miocic. This victory over Tybura just got him a little bit closer.
