You would think someone nicknamed “Iron” would be a little more durable.
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women’s featherweight champion Germaine de Randamie is not fighting Ketlen Vieira at the upcoming UFC event on Feb. 3 in Brazil, but not because she suddenly got injured, like “Fenomeno” suggested.
She was already injured to begin with and claims she never accepted the bout.
"I’m still rehabbing from my injury,” de Randamie told MMA Fighting. “Never did I signed or agree to fight anyone at this point. The UFC also knows I’m not able to fight right now. I need to let my body heal properly. So I’m sorry I have no idea when I will be back fighting.”
Sounds promising.
De Randamie (7-3) took a controversial decision win over Holly Holm to capture the 145-pound title back in February, only to have it taken away for failing to defend it against division wrecking ball Cris Cyborg.
The result was a return to bantamweight ... that never came to be.
