In case you hadn’t heard, the country of Brazil has Colby Covington marked for death after “Chaos” beat Demian Maia at UFC Fight Night 119, then told the mixed martial arts (MMA) community that Brazilians were a bunch of filthy animals.
Sensitive bunch, I tell ya’ ... but I guess it’s easier to focus on that and not real problems like this.
As luck would have it, Covington was on hand as part of the UFC Fight Night 121 media day in Sydney, Australia, and crossed paths with a boomerang-hurling Fabricio Werdum, the Brazilian hothead who likes to start press conference rumbles in his spare time.
Like this one.
As expected, the UFC brass launched a full investigation into the matter, but former light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, believes “Vai Cavalo” should be praised for his attack on Covington, which was apparently a simultaneous attack on racism.
From Twitter:
I despise racism , good job today @FabricioWerdum dude had the audacity to call you a "faggot" as he's backing up on Facebook live.
— Jon Bones Jones (@JonnyBones) November 16, 2017
Jones has an existing relationship with Covington ... and it’s not a good one.
Werdum, meanwhile, is in town to fight Marcin Tybura in the UFC Fight Night 121 main event, a short-notice replacement for the punchy Mark Hunt. Any action taken against the Brazilian is unlikely to come until after his appearance on Saturday night.
