Fabricio Werdum will look to take one step closer to reclaiming the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Heavyweight crown when he faces off against Marcin Tybura in the main event of UFC Fight Night 121 this Saturday (Nov. 18, 2017) in Sydney, Australia. He’ll have a tough task ahead of him, though, as Tybura has won three straight, including two knockout wins, and most recently defeating former champion Andrei Arlovski this past summer.
Despite not having the big-name recognition and resume of most of the top-level big men, Tybura is not one to be taken lightly, according to “Vai Cavalo.” That’s because all heavyweights are dangerous and can end a fight in the blink of an eye.
“In the heavyweight division, everybody is dangerous. It’s just one punch, just one kick and that’s it, it’s finished fight. In my next fight, Marcin is a very good fighter with good take downs, good jiu-jitsu, he is very dangerous. But I have a lot of experience, I started when I was 20 years. I am very confident, wrestling, stand up and jiu-jitsu. This fight is very important and I want to show UFC I am ready for the title again. Marcin is one more challenge for my next goal. This fight will be exciting for fans and I want to show once again I am best in the world.”
Werdum got back on the winning track last month, submitting Walt Harris at UFC 216 after coming up short against Alistair Overeem in his previous outing.
Speaking of Overeem, the winner of his upcoming bout against Francis Ngannou at UFC 218 on Dec. 2, 2017, will likely set himself up for a shot at the title. And that means Werdum will have to put on one hell of a performance if he wants to cut the championship line.
