UFC champ Amanda Nunes joins Forbes ‘30 Under 30’ list

Another day, another award.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes was named to Forbes’ annual “30 Under 30” list, which in this case, recognizes professional athletes for their accomplishments in sports.

From the Forbes profile:

She sent shockwaves through the UFC world by defeating Ronda Rousey in just 48 seconds. The first openly gay champion for the sport, Nunes is the reigning women's bantamweight champion with a 15-4 record. Nunes has an endorsement deal with TEN spring water.

Not sure about the “shockwaves” part, all things considered.

After turning away Valentina Shevchenko at UFC 215, Nunes was expected to return to the Octagon on Dec. 30; however, her opponent, Raquel Pennington, was injured in a car accident and forced to withdraw.

Finiding a replacement won’t be easy, as Rousey is on hiatus, Julianna Pena is pregnant, and Holly Holm is mired in a financial squabble with Cris Cyborg. Perhaps it’s time for that Cat Zingano rematch?

You know, after she takes care of that “bullshit.”
