It’s been a busy day for Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion Conor McGregor, who was in attendance for the Bellator 187 mixed martial arts (MMA) event in Dublin, Ireland.
After “Notorious” was done jumping the cage to cause compete and utter chaos in the Charlie Ward vs. John Redmond fight (video here), he took a few minutes out of his busy schedule to slap the shit out of a ring official (see above).
That kind of behavior would undoubtedly draw a fine (like this one) and possible suspension from stateside commissions, but considering McGregor is acting up in his own backyard, there’s not telling what kind of punishment — if any — awaits.
McGregor is expected to return to the Octagon later this year, or perhaps first-quarter 2018, depending on how quickly he can come to terms with the promotion. While UFC interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson is the frontrunner, an opponent has yet to be finalized.
Stay tuned.
