Video: Stephen Thompson stares down throat-slashing Jorge Masvidal at UFC 217 media day

It’s all fun and games until somebody gets their throat slashed.

Former welterweight No. 1 contender Stephen Thompson gets ready for war against longtime veteran Jorge Masvidal at the upcoming UFC 217 pay-per-view (PPV) event, set for Madison Square Garden in New York City on Saturday night (Nov. 4, 2017).

Thompson (13-2-1) has spent the better part of a year trying to dethrone Tyron Woodley from the welterweight throne. Their first contest ended in a draw, while the second went to a ho-hum decision in favor of “The Chosen One.”

Masvidal (33-12) was one victory away from a crack at the 170-pound crown; however, Demian Maia was able to squeak past him — just barely — at UFC 211 back in May, snapping a three-fight win streak for “Gamebred.”
