Prior to kicking off UFC 216 from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada last night (Oct. 7, 2017), Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) honored many victims and first responders who were a part of last week’s horrific mass shooting in “Sin City” that took the lives of 58 people and injured close to 500 more.
UFC president Dana White opened the tribute with a resounding and powerful message for all Las Vegas residents, before the promotion brought out several police offers and victims into the Octagon, and many who were sitting cageside.
Popular singer Everlast then delivered his rendition of “America the Beautiful.” Prior to the event, it was reported that UFC would be hosting over 1,500 first responders at UFC 216, who aided in saving the lives of many people that fateful night. A kind gesture from the promotion whose roots are deeply embedded in Las Vegas.
The promotion also donated $1 million to victims and families of the horrific shooting.
