After winning UFC contract on Dana White’s contender series, NSAC wants to have a word with Kurt Holobaugh

UFC

After smashing Matt Bessette on the series premiere of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series, streaking featherweight mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Kurt Holobaugh was awarded a contract with Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Which may now be on hold.

Holobaugh (18-4) found himself in hot water with Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) after allegedly using intravenous hydration, currently banned by the governing body, as well as United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).

“We have allowances for when you can have (an IV), and this did not fit into any of those allowances,” NSAC Management Analyst Nyra Phillips told MMA Junkie. “When it’s more than 50 milliliters per six-hour period, it becomes a prohibited method per the (World Anti-Doping Agency) list.”

Holobaugh is expected to contest the findings when he appears before the commission next Tuesday. If found in violation, the 31-year-old bruiser could face a disciplinary suspension up to two years.
