UFC veteran Shayna Baszler signs WWE developmental deal

If World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Diva Charlotte Flair wanted us to lower our expectations for ex-women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, then we should probably not expect much from “Four Horsewomen” stablemate and former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 135-pound bruiser Shayna Baszler.

But that’s just fine with “The Queen of Spades,” who recently signed a developmental deal with the pro wrestling organization and began her in-ring training at the promotion’s state-of-the-art performance center in Orlando, Florida.

“I’m looking forward to getting out there and twisting limbs off and breaking bodies,” Baszler told “It’s very serious to me and, in some ways, a lot more important [than MMA] based on where I come from. Because of that, I wanted to start at the beginning and show that I’m willing to start at the bottom and prove myself and work my way up, so there’s no excuse when I get here and I’m breaking these girls in half.”

No asses have been whooped just yet.

Baszler made her way into the land of make believe as part of the Mae Young Classic, the all-women’s elimination tournament designed to find the next big star in sports entertainment. The former Ultimate Fighter (TUF) standout came up short in the finals, but did enough to impress the WWE brass to warrant a call back.

Which may be a showing of good faith to land the bigger fish.
