Kevin Lee ready to ‘kill’ non-evolving Tony Ferguson at UFC 216 - ‘His toughness means a longer ass whooping’

MMA: UFC Fight Night-Chiesa vs Lee Sean Pokorny-USA TODAY Sports

For as much trash that has been talked between Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee, there is still some mutual respect between the two fighters as combatants. Lee, for one, has never shied away from giving “El Cucuy” his props. That said, when giving him his just due recently during a media luncheon, “The Motown Phenom” managed to sneak in another jab, claiming Ferguson’s toughness will only equate to a longer beating.

“When you look at it, and you say a man is tough — and that’s his biggest attribute — that ain’t good for him,” Lee said via MMA Junkie. “He talks about all this training in the mountains and running with the bears. That just means he’s going to take a longer ass-whooping.”

He does have five whole rounds to inflict damage, as the two men will collide for the interim Lightweight title this weekend (Sat., Oct. 7, 2017) at UFC 216 in Las Vegas, Nevada. And while Lee isn’t opposed to changing up his game, Ferguson is not according to the Detroit native. And that, too, will lead to his downfall in “Sin City.”

“He does well, and I’ve always given Tony respect.… But, I think the dude is full of himself,” Lee said. “I think he feels himself. He feels like … I don’t know. I’m going to show all the holes in his game. I don’t think he goes back and fills up those holes. Every time, win, lose or draw for me, I go back, I reassess my skills, I see where I need to make improvements, and I do. And I don’t think he does that.

“If you stop evolving, you start dying,” Lee concluded. “And I’m ready to go kill him.”

UFC 216 will also feature a co-main event title fight as Flyweight king Demetrious Johnson faces Ray Borg, while Derrick Lewis collides with Fabricio Werdum in Heavyweight action.
