Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is on the hunt for an available lightweight after division slugger Al Iaquinta suffered an injury and was forced to withdraw from the upcoming UFC 218 pay-per-view (PPV) event, scheduled for Sat., Dec. 2, 2017 inside Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan.
That’s according to a report from MMA Fighting.
At the top of the list of potential replacements is veteran jiu-jitsu wizard Charles Oliveira, though his status remains unofficial at the time of this writing. If selected, “Do Bronx” would bang it out with lightweight bruiser Paul Felder.
We’ll keep you posted once that becomes official (or doesn’t).
UFC 218 will be headlined by a featherweight title fight pitting current 145-pound champion Max Holloway against two-time divisional title challenger Frankie Edgar. Elsewhere on the card, Eddie Alvarez and Justin Gaethje collide for a spot in the lightweight title chase.
