Cris Cyborg claims the UFC is trying to nickle and dime her on Holly Holm fight

Things are not going well between the UFC and Cris Cyborg. But then again, when are they?

The UFC continues to struggle with their women's featherweight champion Cris Cyborg.

The relationship between the two has never been great, with the promotion signing Cris back in 2015 on a unique contract that kept her fighting for female promotion Invicta FC while they tried to pressure her into cutting down to 135 pounds for a showdown with Ronda Rousey. Over the next two years, Cyborg regularly complained about poor treatment from the promotion (real and imagined) so I suppose it should be no surprise they're butting heads again.

"My meeting with the UFC for next week has been canceled," she wrote. "They want to pay me less to fight Holly Holm than I made to fight Tonya Evinger."

If true, it's an interesting situation. With Rousey out of the picture, a battle with Holm is the biggest fight in women's MMA. So why is the UFC trying to shortchange Cyborg to make it happen? Things get even more interesting when you consider Cyborg's contract with them is set to expire this month (barring any sneaky clauses that may tie her up in lengthy negotiation periods).

You have to wonder if the UFC is all that interested in being in the Cris Cyborg business now that Ronda Rousey is gone. They've only signed one other 145 pound woman for their 145 pound women's division, and every negotiation with Cris for another fight is like pulling teeth. Cyborg had to campaign relentlessly to be booked for the UFC 214 card in her hometown, and has been similarly gung-ho about getting a fight with Holm off the ground.

As for the UFC? As you can tell from Cyborg's above tweet, they don't seem quite as excited about it.
