Knockout! Watch Derek Brunson obliterate Lyoto Machida at UFC Fight Night 119

The return of Lyoto Machida did not last long enough last night (Sat., Oct. 28, 2017) at UFC Fight Night 119 live on FOX Sports 1 from inside Ginasio do Ibirapuera in Sao Paulo, Brazil, as “The Dragon” got torched by middleweight power puncher Derek Brunson.

Despite making his first Octagon appearance in over two years, Machida still seemed to possess the counter-striking ability to contend with an athletic weapon like Brunson. But after Brunson caught the former UFC light heavyweight champion with his own left counter, Machida was put on ice. Brunson jumped on the Brazilian like dressing to lettuce and slammed massive ground-and-pound into Machida’s head before the referee jumped in for the knockout stoppage.

With this performance, Brunson wins his second in a row via first-round knockout. Despite past defeats to Anderson Silva and Robert Whittaker, Brunson has already made fans forget and remains a serious player at 185 pounds. If he gets a crack at someone like Luke Rockhold his next time out, Brunson may find himself in title contention in 2018.
