Joanna Jedrzejczyk hits Rose Namajunas with more ‘mentally unstable’ trash talk

The women’s flyweight champ continues to punch low with digs at the mental health of her UFC 217 challenger.

Joanna

Women's strawweight champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk has always brought a certain intensity to pre-fight encounters with her opponents, but she's ramping up the mind games to whole new level as her fight with Rose Namajunas at UFC 217 approaches. Namajunas has been pretty open regarding personal struggles in her life, and now Joanna is throwing Rose's past comments on mental health back in her face.

"How are you going to be a champion and deal with all of those things?" Jedrzejczyk asked on a UFC 217 media call. "You know what? You’re not strong mentally. You are mentally unstable, and you are broken already, and I will break you in the fight.”

“I think you have some personal problems, and I will show you what your problem is. You're never going to be a champion.”

The whole route of attack continues to come off as tasteless, especially considering Rose's family history.

“I’m not sure if it’s maybe a cultural difference or something like that, but for me, it’s not something that’s taken lightly,” Namajunas said. “My family has been torn apart. My dad died, and he wasn’t in my life because he had schizophrenia. It’s been something my entire family has been fighting against since I can remember."

But she insisted the insults weren't getting to her.

"I’m not concerned with what she’s doing," she finished. "Whatever she’s saying, that’s fine. But for me, it’s all about me. It’s all about conquering my demons, and that’s what’s important."
