GIF: Hockey goon uses ‘UFC’ Superman punch to ice rival player

Aside from that movie The Cutting Edge, I don’t really know much about professional hockey players. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a game of hockey in my life, so you’ll pardon the ignorance when it comes to descriptors.

What I do know for a fact is that the Anaheim Ducks were playing the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday night, and a fight broke out between Kevin Bieksa (Ducks) and Radko Gudas (Flyers).

Bieska laid out Gudas with a Superman punch, a strike most identified with former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre. The announcers called it a “UFC move,” according to Bloody Elbow, which is on par with “training UFC.”

Hey, the move works, so just roll with it.

Speaking of St-Pierre, he’ll come off the bench to throw hands with middleweight kingpin Michael Bisping at the UFC 217 pay-per-view (PPV) event next month in New York City.
