What’s next for Darren Till after knocking out Cowboy Cerrone at UFC Gdansk?

MMA: UFC Fight Night-Gdansk-Cerrone vs Till Per Haljestam-USA TODAY Sports

It wasn’t quite “Mystic Mac” style, but Darren Till predicted he’d end Donald Cerrone if he opted to strike with him, and he delivered, taking “Cowboy” out in the very first round with beautiful combinations in the main event of UFC Fight Night 118 yesterday (Sat., Oct. 21, 2017) in Gdansk, Poland.

Even Cerrone couldn’t help but to congratulate his foe on such an impressive performance.

Indeed, Till picked Cerrone apart from the jump, taking it to the longtime veteran before delivering the crushing and fight-ending blows with a minute left in the fight. Now, it’s on to bigger and better things for Till moving forward.

But what are his options?

Currently, most of the Welterweight field is booked, which means Till will have to wait a bit for a few fights to go down. And he’s just fine with that, as he revealed during the post-fight presser that he likely wont return to action until 2018.

After his win, he got into a heated verbal altercation with another rising prospect, Mike Perry, following his post-fight speech. While Till is down for the scrap, he knows it’s much ado about nothing at this point, as “Platinum” is currently booked to face Santiago Ponzinibbio at UFC on FOX 26 in a few months.

It’s a fight Till says Perry can’t win.

That said, I’d like to see Till face the winner of that matchup. All three men prefer to stand-and-bang, so regardless of who gets who, it’s a strikers delight all the way around.

A win for Till over either man definitely ups his stock, and will move closer to title contention, though the future of MMA — according to Dana White -- isn’t in a hurry for his invitation to the big dance, as he is well aware of the fact that there are many more deserving fighters in front of him.

Still, Darren showed a lot in his win over Cerrone, proving that he can talk the talk and walk the walk. And knocking out Cerrone is no easy task, though he made it look that way.

The future is bright for Till, now all he has to do is keep winning, keep impressing and all the benefits that come with being a star in MMA are bound to come.
