As a measure of precaution and safety, Anthony Hamilton and Adam Wieczorek have been removed from their heavyweight matchup tomorrow (Sat., Oct. 21, 2017) at UFC Fight Night 118 live on Fight Pass from inside Ergo Arena in Gdansk, Poland.
According to MMA Junkie, UFC officials decided to pull Hamilton vs. Wieczorek from tomorrow’s card hours after both men were stopped from weighing in on stage. This was neither fighter’s fault, as a group of nearly 30 men showed up to support their local soccer team, which rivals that of Wieczorek, and began belting out synchronized chants.
UFC officials decided to keep “Freight Train” and “Siwy” off stage and allow them to step on the scale in safety. After learning of the tension created by the soccer extremists police in riot gear arrived and began stopping people as they were leaving.
As a result of the removal, Hamilton vs. Wieczorek has been rescheduled for UFC Fight Night 121 on Nov. 18 in Sydney, Australia, which is an event headlined by former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum against rising contender Marcin Tybura.
UFC Fight Night 118 will move forward with 11 fights.
