Gegard Mousasi, Alexander Shlemenko pass Bellator 185 drug tests

MMA: UFC 204-Belfort vs Mousasi Per Haljestam-USA TODAY Sports

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight contender Gegard Mousasi is just a few hours away from his Bellator MMA debut after failing to come to terms on a new deal with the world’s largest mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion.

Crunch all the numbers here.

Standing in his way will be former Bellator middleweight champion Alexander Shlemenko, who will try to sleep “The Dreamcatcher” in the Bellator 185 main event later tonight (Fri., Oct. 20, 2017) on Spike TV.

Prior to their showdown, Mousasi requested that Shlemenko get drug tested in the weeks leading up to fight night, since “Storm” was previously popped for elevated testosterone back in early 2015 (more on that mess here).

According to Mike Mazzulli (via MMA Fighting), the director of the Mohegan Tribe’s Department of Athletic Regulation, both Mousasi and Shlemenko passed out-of-competition drug tests and are cleared to compete tonight inside Mohegan Sun.

The show must — and will — go on.
