Things got rather interesting at yesterday’s Bellator 185 weigh ins inside Connecticut’s Mohegan Sun, thanks to one “obsessed fan” who rushed the stage during the staredown between flyweight rivals Heather Hardy and Kristina Williams.
Except it wasn’t really fan at all.
The person of interest was boxer Shelly Vincent, who lost to Hardy in last year’s WBC International female featherweight title fight. Apparently she’s still unhappy with the result, though she picked an unusual place for an impromptu rematch.
“I’m completely focused on my opponent right now and keeping my undefeated record wherever I fight,” Hardy told MMA Fighting after the Bellator 185 weigh ins. “Besides, that was just one of my obsessed fans.”
“You can fool the public, but those of us on the inside know the real deal,” Vincent fired back on social media.
Bellator 185, headlined by the middleweight showdown between Gegard Mousasi and Alexander Shlemenko, takes place tonight (Fri., Oct. 20, 2017) on Spike TV.
