Norwegian unified welterweight world champion Cecilia Braekhus was kissed by Swedish challenger Mikaela Lauren during their media face off earlier this week, designed to promote this weekend’s 10-round showdown in Norway.
"I haven’t got that in a while," Braekhus said after the impromptu smooch.
As for Lauren?
“Cecilia is a very arrogant person but when she feels my power she won’t be so cocky,” she said (via Boxing Scene). “She might be confident now, but once I hit her, it’s going to wake her up. It’s going to scare her and then I’m going to get her respect.”
I guess that’s one way of looking at it.
Staredown kisses are nothing new in combat sports, but most of them -- Heath Herring notwithstanding — have been unintentional (like this one). Let’s just hope Michael Bisping doesn’t get any funny ideas the next time he faces off against Georges St-Pierre.
