It’s old-school vs. new-school this Saturday afternoon (Oct. 21, 2017) inside Ergo Arena in Gdansk, Poland, as Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone looks to snap a two-fight losing streak against undefeated United Kingdom-bred bruiser, Darren Till.

UFC Fight Night 118 will also feature local favorite Karolina Kowalkiewicz as she helms Fight Pass’ co-feature against Invicta veteran Jodie Esquibel, while Jan Blachowicz attempts to finally get his career back on track at Devin Clark’s expense.

It ain’t the prettiest card, but it’s one we can squeeze some value out of. Here’s how.

What Went Wrong at UFC 216?

Tom Duquesnoy, despite no previous tendency to do so, gassed against Cody Stamman. That’s the long and short of it — he won the first round, as expected, but lost steam and showed little urgency once the gas tank started to empty. Props to Stamman and here’s hoping Duquesnoy fixes that issue before his next fight.

UFC Fight Night 118 Odds For The Undercard:

Marcin Held (-440) vs. Nasrat Haqparast (+350)
Adam Wieczorek (-135) vs. Anthony Hamilton (+115)
Brian Kelleher (-120) vs. Damian Stasiak (EVEN)
Ramazan Emeev (-135) vs. Sam Alvey (+115)
Andre Fili (-160) vs. Artem Lobov (+140)
Warlley Alves (N/A) vs. Salim Touahri (N/A)
Aspen Ladd (-210) vs. Lina Länsberg (+175)
Josh Emmett (-320) vs. Felipe Arantes (+260)

Thoughts: Andre Fili is going to smash Artem Lobov something awful and I want you to make some money from it.

“Touchy” will have nine inches of reach over the infamously stubby Lobov, a more diverse striking game and a clear wrestling edge. He’s not nearly as one-dimensional or cardio-deficient as Teruto Ishihara, nor does he have any noteworthy durability issues that Lobov could conceivably exploit with a homerun punch. Sure, Yair Rodriguez turned his lights out, but that was a flush shin to the face that would have KO’d the average water buffalo. Plus, Fili’s alternated wins and losses since joining UFC and he’s coming off a loss so statistically

Other than that, I’d put a bit on Arantes. “Sertanejo” — even while killing himself to make Bantamweight — came on strong in the last round against the frantic attack of Erik Perez, while Emmett ran out of gas against Des Green. Here, Arantes is fighting at a more comfortable weight, while Emmett is making his first cut. Arantes is a more complete striker than Emmett and strong enough on the ground to handle himself if Emmett makes a rare takedown attempt. It’s worth at least a pittance, I’d say.

UFC Fight Night 118 Odds For The Main Card:

Donald Cerrone (-150) vs. Darren Till (+130)
Karolina Kowalkiewicz (-470) vs. Jodie Esquibel (+375)
Devin Clark (-155) vs. Jan Blachowicz (+135)
Oskar Piechota (-185) vs. Jonathan Wilson (+160)

Thoughts: Green as he is, Devin Clark is still a worthwhile investment. Blachowicz has languished in sub-mediocrity since thrashing Ilir Latifi in his Octagon debut. He has admittedly faced some tough customers like Jimi Manuwa and Alexander Gustafsson, but the cardio and grappling issues he’s shown are enough to doom him against most anyone at 205 pounds. Clark — who is seven years younger than Blachowicz — has exactly the sort of takedown-heavy offense to smother the Pole’s powerful kicks and drain his cardio. Bank on it.

UFC Fight Night 118 Best Bets:

  • Single bet -- Andre Fili: Bet $160 to make $100
  • Single bet -- Devin Clark: Bet $77.5 to make $50
  • Single bet -- Felipe Arantes: Bet $40 to make $104

At least UFC Fight Night 118’s kickass main event will be done before any Saturday evening shenanigans you’ve got planned. See you there, Maniacs!
