Georges St-Pierre on Conor McGregor UFC fight - ‘Robert Whittaker should be next, but Dana White’s the boss’

MMA: UFC 209-Weigh Ins Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Georges St-Pierre recently stated that he isn’t too interested in a fight against current Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Lightweight champion, seeing as how he isn’t in the business of challenging smaller fighters.

Look no further than his preference to rather go up in weight to fight bigger men as he will take on current UFC Middleweight champion Michael Bisping at the upcoming UFC 217 pay-per-view (PPV) event on No. 4, 2017 in New York City.

Should he defeat “The Count,” St-Pierre revealed he is obligated to defend the title against interim 185-pound champion Robert Whittaker, But, if the power that be decided a showdown against “Notorious” is more appealing, then so be it.

“In my contract, it’s Robert Whittaker. But, Dana is the boss, so he decides what will be next,” declared “Rush” during a recent press conference to promote his title fight.

Indeed, ever since ENDEAVOR -- formerly known as WME-IMG — purchased the fight promotion for a whopping $4 billion, the new head honchos have been trying to make as much money back as quick as possible by putting on the biggest fights imaginable.

And judging by some of these PPV numbers, they need some “big money” fights in a hurry.

That said, a showdown between St-Pierre and McGregor would undoubtedly break the bank when it comes to sales, as “Notorious” is the undisputed pay-per-view (PPV) champion, a title once held by St-Pierre during his glory days.

For now, Georges will focus on winning his second title in as many division when he faces Bisping inside Madison Square garden, while McGregor looks to legitimatize the 155-pound strap in a title-unification bout against interim champion Tony Ferguson.

After that, there is no telling which direction UFC goes. One thing is certain, I don’t think too many people would opposed to a potential matchup between St-Pierre and McGregor.

Well, maybe one or two.
