Bellator has been hoping they can get a bit of Conor McGregor style magic for themselves with highly touted Irish prospect James Gallagher. The 7-0 featherweight was set to headline Bellator 187 at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland on November 10th but a knee injury suffered in training has scuttled those plans.
Bellator has had to shuffle things around a bit after the injury. Gallagher’s nemesis AJ McKee has been promoted to the main event and will take on Gallagher's Straight Blast Gym teammate Brian Moore. McKee's original opponent Decky Dalton will now face Andre Goncalves. Gallagher's opponent Jeremiah Labiano is getting moved to Bellator 188 on November 16th.
The situation is a blow to a Bellator card that was built around putting Gallagher forward as a serious star. According to reports, he'll be on the mend for six to eight weeks.
