Kevin Lee glad Adalaide Byrd is off UFC 216 since he’s fighting a 'Mexican fighter'

A recent report revealed that Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) is considering giving Adalaide Byrd a break from judging combat fights after she came under fire for her bizarre scoring on the Gennady Golovkin vs. Canelo Alvarez boxing match which saw her give Alvarez the edge with an score of 118-to 111.

She was is simply having a “bad day,” though.

Kevin Lee, for one, is thrilled at the prospect of Byrd not judging his interim Lightweight fight against Tony Ferguson, which is to go down at UFC 216 on Oct. 7, 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Especially since he’s fighting a Mexican with an aggressive fighting style, whom Byrd seems to be fond of.

“I’ll tell you what, I’m glad Adelaide Byrd is off my damn card. I’m fighting a Mexican, too. Look, she had me shook. I’m glad they made the right decision and threw her off the card. I don’t necessarily think there was any conspiracy, or nothing crazy like that. I just think she’s a Canelo fan,” he said during a recent interview with Bloody Elbow.

Lee went on to give his own score of the fight.

“I thought Canelo was winning the fight, too, in the early rounds, but then in the later rounds GGG definitely took over. I would have maybe scored it 7-5 for GGG. I can see 6-6, so I wasn’t upset with the score, but 10-2? That’s fookin crazy,” he added.

“I’m so glad that they threw her off my card because I’m fighting a Mexican too, a Mexican that likes to push forward. She ain’t going to give me a fair shake, so I’m happy with the decision to pull her off the card. That’s for damn sure!”

Talks are currently underway for a rematch between Alvarez and Golovkin, which lead many to believe Byrd’s wide score is simply another indicator of the corruption that always seems to surround boxing.

As for Lee and Ferguson, both men will fight for their first taste of championship gold and perhaps secure themselves for their highest paying fight in MMA against division champion Conor McGregor down the road.

Or maybe even a heavyweight fight.
