Things didn't go as planned for Dominick Cruz at UFC 207 last month. Cruz vastly underestimated the technique, movement and speed of Cody Garbrandt en route to dropping his first bout inside of the Octagon and relinquishing his 135-pound title. While Cruz was outpointed and dropped throughout the majority of the bout, the 31-year-old remains optimistic heading into 2017, posting the following to his Instagram account earlier this week:
Cruz is in fact still standing. To much amazement, "The Dominator" ate the very best shots Garbrandt had to offer at UFC 207 and kept on getting up. It proved he can take a punch and remain resilient even when behind on the scorecards. We've never seen Cruz come back from a loss inside of the Octagon so it will be interesting to see his approach his next time out. Maybe something a little more aggressive, especially since he has a chin under that bravado?
