Dana White dismisses Michael Bisping’s fantasy fights, promises Yoel Romero next UFC title shot

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight champion Michael Bisping, who captured the crown at UFC 199 before defending it at UFC 204, is setting his sights on “big-money fights” in the twilight of his career.

You know, strike while the iron is hot, and all that jazz.

Some of the names on “The Count’s” wish list include but are not limited to Georges St-Pierre, Nick Diaz, and Tyron Woodley. Sure they’re all welterweight fighters, but we shouldn’t bog ourselves down with some of the finer details.

Not that it matters, as UFC President Dana White has other plans, according to his conversation on UFC Unfiltered.

“Yoel Romero’s been floating out there a long time waiting for a title shot. Bisping wanted to do that grudge match with Dan Henderson. It was going to be Dan Henderson’s last fight. I’ve always shown Henderson the respect I felt he deserved. He’s a guy who’s fought everybody out there. So we did that fight and he’s got to defend his title now against the No. 1 contender. If you look at what Romero did to Chris Weidman, he absolutely deserves the shot.”

See that destruction here.

Bisping is not expected to make his return to combat sports until May, thanks to a knee injury that required surgery (see the pic here). In the meantime, “The Count” has kept his feud with “Soldier of God” on the front burner with recurring social media barbs.

So it looks like Bisping vs. Romero is official for a time and place to be determined ... unless something like this happens between now and then.
