UFC on FOX 23 overnight ratings: ‘Shevchenko vs Pena’ pulls 2.02 million viewers

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) recently tied a ribbon around its UFC on FOX 23 mixed martial arts (MMA) event, which took place last Saturday night (Jan. 28, 2017) inside Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado.

Full results here.

The overnight ratings for “Shevchenko vs. Pena” have been delivered courtesy of TV By The Numbers (via MMA Fighting), and they probably won’t be cause for celebration at the UFC front office.

UFC on FOX 23, headlined by the women’s bantamweight contender fight between Valentina Shevchenko and Julianna Pena, pulled a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demo and 2.02 million viewers.

That’s well below the 2.78 million average for FOX and came under the 2.43 million returned by UFC on FOX 18: “Bader vs. Johnson” roughly one year ago. As a result, the FOX network finished last among the four major networks in terms of total viewers.

The good news is that ratings can only go up from here as the west coast numbers being to trickle in over the next few days. While the matchmaking for UFC on FOX 23 was solid, including the co-main event between Donald Cerrone and Jorge Masvidal, there wasn’t a big-name star to give the card a ratings boost.

Is normal.
