Freddie Roach: Everybody has Ronda Rousey’s number now, she probably should retire

After Ronda Rousey suffered a 48-second knockout loss to Amanda Nunes in the main event of UFC 207 back on Dec. 30, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada (video highlights here), everyone from all walks of life offered up their thoughts.

Whether it was Justin Beiber mocking the former champion, Jon Jones offering words of encouragement, or Lebron James sympathizing with Rousey, there wasn’t a shortage of opinions following the devastating defeat.

Now, one of the most celebrated trainers in the history of boxing, Freddie Roach, gives his view to TMZ Sports, saying that he bet on Nunes to win since it’s obvious everyone has Ronda’s number in the standup department.

"Muay Thai is standup also, you can go to the ground, but it’s mostly standup. She doesn’t do well with standup and everybody has her number now. The thing is, when you get beat like that, sometimes you can come back from that, sometimes you can’t. It depends on the person. The first fight landed and the fight was over, 48 seconds of beating. That’s the fight game."

You might be confusing Mauy Thai with jiu-jitsu there, Freddie, but we'll let it slide.

Rousey hasn’t decided what exactly her next move will be, but did reveal via an official statement that she will take time off before ultimately revealing her mixed martial arts (MMA) plans moving forward.

When asked what he thought about the comments Ronda’s mom made about wanting to see Ronda retire from the fight game altogether, Roach responded by saying he agreed.
