CM Punk ‘feverishly working’ on getting another UFC fight booked

John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

Despite Dana White’s wishes to see CM Punk get some experience in the minor leagues before getting another fight inside the Octagon, the former WWE Superstar-turned mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter isn’t having it.

In fact, Punk — real name Phil Brooks — is already campaigning hard to get back into the eight-walled cage for redemption.

"I am working on it feverishly," Punk told FOX Sports. "I’m throwing names at Dana (White), opponents, dates. I don’t know if he’s waiting for a Chicago show or what the deal is but if it doesn’t happen in the UFC, it will happen somewhere else," added Punk.

CM’s Octagon debut didn’t go as planned, as he was choked out by Mickey Gall in the very first round at UFC 203 (see it again here), derailing the dreams he had of UFC glory almost immediately after months and months of postponements and cancellations.

That said, Punk says he is doing his best to up his game to assure that his next outing — inside the Octagon or not — goes smoother.

"I’m dedicated to fighting and training. We’ll get there."

Going into UFC 203, Punk had no MMA experience, but did put in over a year of full time training at RoufuSport gym with the likes of Anthony Pettis and Ben Askren. But, it wasn’t enough, as he was easily taken down and forced to tap by Gall, who isn’t exactly a veteran in his own right, though he has a bit more fight experience than his counterpart.

Do you expect White and Co. to cave and give Punk one more chance inside the Octagon?
