Smart, beautiful people can make a living doing anything they want.
That’s why someone like former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey shouldn’t have to settle for prizefighting, a crude, violent pastime reserved for the stupid, unwashed masses. Just ask former judo world champion and “Rowdy” mother AnnMaria DeMars, who thinks her oldest daughter may be too good for the sewers of mixed martial arts (MMA).

“I would like to see her retire. I would have liked to see her retire a long time ago. Who wants to see their kid get hit? She’s got a lot of talent in a lot of other things. Movies, writing, producing, she’s really, really smart. I told her that at the beginning when she started this. I said, ‘You’re smart and beautiful, let the stupid people get punched in the face.’ Sorry stupid people. I think she’s an adult and she can make her own decisions. If you get in a fight with somebody or you’re angry with somebody, that’s not the time to make decisions. I think decisions are best made when you’re not really emotional and obviously losing something is a real emotional thing.”
Emotional ... and devastating.
After a 12-0 run at the top of the combat sports mountain, one that may have been blown way out of proportion (sample), Rousey went on to lose back-to-back fights by way of blistering knockout.
The most recent of which came at the heavy hands of reigning UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes (watch it), who needed just 48 seconds to smash and trash her “Rowdy” foe at UFC 207 last Friday night in Las Vegas.
Perhaps validating this claim along the way.
I’m sure DeMars realizes Rousey didn’t secure her celebrity status — or land high-profile roles like this — using her big brain and pretty face. That monstrous success came by way of cagefighting, something she was apparently very good at until some dope convinced her she was Floyd Mayweather.
Hey, there’s always Plan B.
