Cody Garbrandt felt like 'King Leonidas' by making Dominick Cruz bleed, feel human at UFC 207

Cody Garbrandt walked the walk by dethroning Dominick Cruz from the top of the bantamweight mountain, handing him his first loss in over a decade at the UFC 207 pay-per-view (PPV) extravaganza last Friday (Dec. 30, 2016) in Las Vegas, Nevada.

One of the most enjoyable moments for "No Love" -- other than "whooping Dominick's ass" for 25 minutes -- was making him bleed and making him feel human after he busted Cruz open in the later rounds with a well-placed strike.

As Cody described it to MMA Fighting, it was something straight out of a blockbuster movie.

"It was fun, it was raw and I had so much fun in there. But in the third round, my coach said add that kick to that cross, he’s dipping there and that’s what cut him. Then my knee hit him, I gashed his whole eyebrow. The way he reacted to seeing his blood, he touched it, looked at his hand for a split second and his pupils got really big. I knew he was like, 'holy shit, his kid just fucking split me and now I’m leaking like a stuck pig.’ It was like in the movie ‘300,’ where King Leonidas threw that spear and hit his face and he saw his blood and had a human-like reaction, chill go down his spine. So I asked him if he was still having fun and he didn’t answer me back. I was having fun and I could’ve took him out a bunch of times, but I was having so much fun in there. It was my first title fight and you only get one of those and I didn’t want it to end because I was having so much pleasure whooping his ass."

Garbrandt is adamant he’s going to give Dominick an instant rematch, though Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White has already declared TJ Dillashaw the next title contender. That said, you can expect Garbrandt and Cruz to run it back again at some point in their careers.

Anyone expect a different outcome the second time around, or much of the same?
