Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight champion Anderson Silva is making his return to the silver screen (is normal), landing a new role in the Chinese action flick “Made in Kowloon.”
I was sooooo hoping it was about that restaurant outside of Boston (ass-kicking busboy?) but alas, it was not meant to be. Instead, “The Spider” will rub elbows with Chinese action star Max Zhang and Chinese-American actress JuJu Chan.
From Variety:
The film sees a detective on the trail of a serial killer, who may have abducted the cop’s niece. The film also stars Stephy Tang, Kevin Cheng and Sumyau Liu. Stephen Tung (“Downtown Torpedoes,” “Accidental Spy”) heads the action choreography unit.
Direct-to-torrent.
Directed by Fruit Chan (yes, really), “Made in Kowloon” has a budget of $20 million, which is $5 million less than what Conor McGregor would earn if he fought Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a boxing vs. mixed martial arts (MMA) crossover fight.
Silva will make his long-awaited return to the Octagon next month when he tangles with 185-pound rising star Derek Brunson at the UFC 208: “Holm vs. De Randamie” pay-per-view (PPV) event, locked and loaded for Sat., Feb. 11, 2016 inside Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
