Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has paired a couple of hard-hitting sluggers — and former welterweights — for the upcoming UFC Fight Night 105 mixed martial arts (MMA) event, scheduled for Sun., Feb. 19, 2017 inside Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Hector Lombard vs. Johny Hendricks, according to MMA Fighting.
Lombard (34-6-1, 1 NC) is coming off back-to-back losses, as well as a drug test suspension, and hasn’t seen the win column since a 2014 drubbing over the since-departed Jake Shields.
His move back to the 185-pound weight class was prompted by his poor performances, a far cry from the days of wrecking shop as the Bellator middleweight kingpin.
Hendricks (17-6), on the other hand, is likely moving up in weight because of his inability to make weight. In addition, “Bigg Rigg” has now dropped three in a row, which is surprising when you consider it was just a few years ago when he ruled the 170-pound division.
Times ... they are a-changing.
UFC Fight Night 105 is expected to be headlined by former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos, who is in need of a new opponent after Stefan Struve was forced to withdraw due to injury.
