Combate Americas

Combate Americas today (Weds., Sept. 7, 2016) announced its first-ever world title fight as John Castaneda battles Gustavo Lopez for the inaugural bantamweight belt inside Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York, on Fri., Oct. 14, live on beIN SPORTS En Español and UFC Fight Pass.

"We are thrilled to be producing our first world title fight in Combate Americas history at our debut event in the Empire State," said Combate Americas CEO and UFC co-founder Campbell McLaren. "John Castaneda and Gustavo Lopez put on some incredibly memorable and heroic performances during our ‘Road To The Championship' fight series this year and last year, so we are looking forward to have these two budding, young stars square off and to crowning our first champion."

Castaneda (11-2) is currently riding a six-fight winning streak. "Sexy Mexy" was last seen finishing Angel Cruz at Combate Ocho just last month. Lopez (6-1), meanwhile, punched his ticket to next month's title fight by smashing Saul Elizondo back in May.

Fun fight.

Tickets for Combate Americas: "Empire Rising" are on sale now and can be purchased at the Turning Stone Box Office, by calling 877.833.SHOW, or online at Ticketmaster.com. Tickets are priced at $75, for cageside, $65, $50 and $35, and may be subject to additional fees.
